Market Garden
&
Veritable
This tour focuses on the airborne landings at Groesbeek on Sept. 17, 1944, the winter months and the start of Operation Veritable on Feb. 8, 1945.
The tour lasts 2.5-3 hours and starts at 10 am or 2 pm. Other start times are possible by arrangement.

Operation Area 82nd Airborne
During this tour we visit the objectives General Gavin had to capture after the airlifts. We will visit Grave, Heumen, Groesbeek, Beek and Nijmegen, among others.
Because of the long distance we cover, this is a full day tour of 7-7.5 hours. The start time is 10 a.m.

The battle for the Waal Bridge
With this tour, we follow the footsteps of the 508PIR who headed for the Waal Bridge in Nijmegen shortly after landing.
Unfortunately, the Waal Bridge was too heavily defended so the attack was repulsed. A crucial moment for the overall operation.
Through various talking points, we end at the monument "The Crossing."
The "in the footsteps of the 82nd" tour lasts 4 hours and starts at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
Who is the guide?
Name: Bert Eikelenboom
As a Rotterdammer, I knew my grandfather's and father's stories about the bombing of Rotterdam and the hunger winter.
In 2008 I moved to Groesbeek and not to just any street but to General Gavin Street.
From that moment I wanted to know more about this General and especially his role in Groesbeek.
As a guide, in the then still called, Liberation Museum, I learned the basics and in 2013 I started my company Liberation Tour with the subtitle "Your Freedom started here. Indeed, it was from Groesbeek that the final movement of the Allies began to liberate the Netherlands from the yoke it had been suffering under since May 10, 1940.
In the same year, I also joined the Guild of Battlefieldguides and completed the accreditation program in 2016. I can now proudly wear Batch no: 79. The guild ensures that guides who do tours under their banner conduct them with quality and care for the participants. If you want to know more click on the batch photo.
Currently, more than 4,000 people have enjoyed hearing my stories. Participants have come from the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Australia, Canada and America, among others.

We are from America - our family has a lot of history in the Nijmegen area. My grandfather (US) met my Dutch grandmother here after the war. They went through so much during those years and this tour brought it all to life for me. The guide is very knowledgeable and informative. Would highly recommend it!

Our family took a tour with Bert of Operation Garden Market. We are Canadian and had requested a tour to enhance the Canadian efforts in the area. It was a great afternoon learning about the liberation of the area during World War II. We learned the who, what, where, when and how's of the operation. We were able to drive around in a 1945 Dodge truck which our boys loved! Bert was very engaged with the kids and they learned a ton. We went to the Canadian War Cemetery and had a tour there as well. We were all very proud to be Canadian. We highly recommend this tour - thanks Bert!

A small group of us former 82nd Airborne Troopers were treated to a beautiful, warm, sunny day as Bert filled us with the history of Market Garden in the Groesbeek and Nijmegen area. The visits to the Drop Zones were an in-your-face link to the men who jumped and fought there. Those were the men who inspired the rest of us to join the Airborne. Thanks to Bert for sharing this with us. I would love to do it again.

In addition to the standard tour program, Liberation Tour provides on-site presentations. Depending on the demand, an appropriate presentation is given. This means that the depth and level of detail can be adjusted. This ensures that the information offered matches the need and everyone goes home with a satisfied feeling. The presentations can be given at a location of your choice or at a location chosen by Liberation Tour. The cost depends on the preparation time, presentation time, location and any room rental.
